When Manu Delago began playing the handpan in 2003, he discovered his passion for composing music. He studied classical percussion at the Mozarteum University in Innsbruck, jazz drumming at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and composition at Trinity College of Music.
In 2007, Manu Delago’s solo piece ‘Mono Desire’ was the most popular handpan video on the internet with over five million views and made it into the top 30 music videos on YouTube. Manu Delago has also collaborated with various leading artists from different genres. He was featured on two albums by psy-trance producers Shpongle and has performed with them on various occasions. In 2011, he recorded for Björk’s album ‘Biophilia’ and has since been her touring drummer, with whom he has completed four world tours. In 2013, he began performing and writing music with sitar player Anoushka Shankar. Manu Delago received his first Grammy nomination for his work on her album ‘Land of Gold’. The versatile percussionist has also been a touring member of The Cinematic Orchestra and Olafur Arnalds.
